Meet the face
behind the posts
Hi everyone! My name is Brooke Madgwick. I also am an aspiring educator. I am majoring in Integrated Science and minoring in Biology while seeking my certification in secondary education. I hope to become a teacher as I am an extreme perfectionist; receiving a poor grade has always felt like the end of the world for me. As a teacher, I want to help students see that a bad mark is not the end of the world. We can learn from our mistakes to do better in the future. We do not have to feel so defeated with one failure.
My motivation to create this piece stemmed from constantly hearing about teachers retiring and not having enough teachers to fill those areas. As someone who always looked up to my teachers, I was very intrigued by this. I found that statements like that are valid. Therefore, educating and inspiring potential teachers is more important than ever. With this piece, I hope to explain the teacher scarcity on a national and state level, and provide some inspiration for those considering going into this field.
